I would say this is closer to an apple. The bowl hangs lower than the shank which is kinda throwing things off a bit.
Notice how much tighter the bottom of the bowl is on this pipe:

Chris also makes the top a little squatter- those two elements would give a much more prince-like aesthetic.
As far as the stain goes- change it. Green=no bueno. Try some sort of earthy brown or tan instead.

Micah's notes are my notes.
Damn, Micah. With all our critiquing we'd better turn out some damn fine princes!

The green is... bad. Don't do that. It's an apple. Take a closer look at some of the links posted earlier. Lots of weight to lose on the shank/stem. Keep it up.

when looking at the front view of your pipe, the cheek on the left looks heavier

Here's a wonderful example of a prince for those concerned. Possibly my favorite to date. Here are the rest of the images:

I'd be happier than a pig in shit to receive a pipe that looks like this in the mail! I hope to give one - minus the blast.

The chamber on that looks like it was drilled at a 90 degree angle not canted a little for easement. Is this true of all princes?

Norm,
That is really very close. Nice work!

fuchi_jeg wrote:I finished my prince and shot some photos with my new lighting set up today. Hopefully these pictures are much better than previous attempts. I need some advice from Rad, or Wayne, or anyone who is cutting tenons with a wood lathe. Im not sure if my issue is with cutting the shoulder or polishing the tenon but I sometimes get a small light gap when the pipe is finished. What kind of tool are you guys cutting the shoulder with? I am still dialing in the new DSLR so if anyone has any tips on photography or shaping on this pipe please let me know. Thanks for all the help and advice given over the last few years. I don't think that is ever said enough.
Pics look good and so does your finish. This is more of a brandy to my eye because of the height. It you chop off... mm... 1/8" from the top of the bowl you'd be much closer.

That's about what I was going to say.
Cut down the top a bit.

I think if you cut the bowl down it would look more "prince like" but I also think that if you asked any pipe guys, who aren't in the throes of trying to make a classic prince, what shape it is they would call it a prince. You've got a nicely finished piece, there. I say leave it and make another if you want to get a little more classic on proportions.
