I personally thought it was a little too apple. there are a few aspects that im not happy with. i may start another if i have a day to myself next week. thanks for your input guys.

Shank and stem are good, but the bowl is very amorphous. I think the height is in the right park, but there's a lot of meat to take off overall.

i agree. it looks like the pipe was made out of taffy and someone pulled on the shank. tighten that up and thin the stem out a little sooner and you will have a pretty nice entry.

I was also wondering about the forward cant on the bowl for a prince. I've seen a bunch that look like they were drilled at 90 degrees, and others that have just an ever so slight forward cant. Even within the Dunhill brand, I've seen examples of both. Any opinions on which way would be considered "proper"?

As to proper or not I don't know but I've put a slight forward cant on the one I'm working on. In my opinion it looks a little better.

Not exactly what I'd call traditional, but it is sure executed well! I wouldn't be disappointed to be the recipient of this one.

Like Jesse said, not exactly traditional, but you know its a prince when see it, and a very nice one at that! Some of you guys amaze me with your creativity and artistic talent.

That there is what we call a "Good Un" down here in Texas.

George, that is my own brand of harsh justice....I mean....blasting. It is just a blast, no prior rustication or surface treatment.

Couple things, I learned real quick that you should always remember to tighten the block when you get it situated in the chuck. Wound up really tearing up the shank, so on this pipe the shank is smaller in diameter and shorter than I'd like, especially for the bowl size.

What do you guys think? Still too much like an apple? I'm not exactly diggin' it, but I have enough time to do another.

The shank is definitely disproportionate. You shouldn't mess up like that!

I think for it to be a prince it needs to be a little bit squatter- it's close for sure though.

A prince! A prince! Nicely executed, Jessie.

Sure, the shank could be a little thicker and, based on what I've seen, the bowl could use a little more chin and the back of the bowl (facing the smoker) could be a little flatter. Overall, the princes I've seen seem to be asymmetrical front to back, but then again I'm no classics expert.

The thing that jumps out at me is the top line of the shank. It tapers down to where it meets the stem, but then the stem changes direction. It's a little jarring. Could be an optical illusion though.

On the whole, this is a great entry and one that I think may be hard for a lot of us to beat.

just like mine, a little too tall. other than the shank issue you mentioned it looks pretty good. i think if you made another you could nail it 100%

proportionally I like it, I think the bowl height may be higher than some but when I look at it I think prince

I think the bowl height is right. I think the shank height is not. A thicker shank would make the bowl look shorter, ala getting your ears lowered.
