I'm not sure I understand his pipes :

And I though Walle was the crazy artist...
Mindboggling piece of work though!

they aren't for understanding, they are for experiencing. It is like looking at abstract art, it is about forms, and tensions, and feelings that come from texture and color. I love his stuff, he is one of my favorite pipe makers.

Gonna finish mine this weekend. I've got everything all fitted....just need to shape and finish sanding it. It's supposed to rain all weekend, which means my husband will be home to watch the chillens

I came down with a man cold, I am hoping to finish mine this weekend too, but it all depends on the horrible malady I am afflicted with.

It saddens me greatly to have to tell you all that I've not been able to complete a pipe for the PITH. Maybe next year I'll be able to get my crap together.

I still plan on getting mine finished. I have until Feb 4th, right?

My second attempt is roughly shaped, I just need to finish sanding the stummel and rusticate the entire thing and then shape and finish the stem.
It's still far from what I want to produce, but I guess I just can't really do any better yet. Not to mention the mother of all fissures I came accross during this one:

This is where I'm at:

So unfortunately my military obligations have once again not left me much time in the shop, so I'm gonna have to drop out. Sorry guys. Maybe next time.

That's gonna be a good lookin' cavalier! I look forward to seeing the end results. :)

I'm still holding my breath- it looks like I just might be able to get one done if I can get necessary other things out of the way. We'll see.

I just got really busy (in a good way), but I'm still aiming to make a pipe for this, so I'm still in untill further notice!

so far i've ruined two pieces of briar and two pieces of ebonite, but i'm still in, barely. this is way harder than i originally thought. i'm hoping to get it done this weekend sans staining. i might have to get a prefab stem and overnight it though. the first stem i cut was easy, and this one is maddening. :filth-n-foul:

Sand pits, broken shanks, wallered holes, yee ha!

As I stated previously I am working on a two piece (three if count removable stem). Looking good to get it done by the 4th as long as I am not called in for overtime.

Cheers

Comrades!

Please don`t take this comment the wrong way: The miserable competitors from Germany are in time ...!
Alas! This shape is no fun, I tell ya. I reckon those two Cavaliers I made are the first but definitely the last ones, too, that'll leave my workshop.
Both of them are made out of halfmoons from Spain, so I call them

The Spanish Gigolos.

Although both pipes base on the same shape-idea, I tried to show two different types of the grain only by shaping the bowls slightely different. That - at least - worked out quite well. The rest was shit.

The lad next to me on the list gets the fair choice to pick the less bad one.

Cheerio!
