Billiard attempt #3

Here's my latest pipe, another attempt at a strait billiard. I made it for my uncle for Christmas. He really liked the extra long stem on a pipe I made last summer, so I made this one with a long stem. Critique is welcome.

There are many improvements you could make to the next one.

The stem bows out a little. Either keep it straight, a little taper in, or a little flare out.

A little sharper on the transition from bowl to shank.

A little bit of a convex curve in the bowl walls.

Sand the stain out of the tobacco chamber.

Some more filing and sanding inside the slot.

There are more, but if you focus on these things first, you will see a dramatically different pipe.

The finishing looks good, but it is a little difficult to see with the pictures a little out of focus.

Thanks for the pointers. I actually made (and posted) the pipe a little over 3 months ago. Since then my buttons/slots have improved dramatically. I also got a real camera.

nice pipe!

I'd change that:

1. Canonical billiard has same-length stummel and stem. It seems your pipe will become better with shorter stem.
2. Stem tapper looks better if starts on shank. I mean shank is not to be precisely cylinder.
3. I'd make a little butt-liposaction.
4. Billiard will be more fine with waist on stem.

All imho.
