I've just purchased some fiebing's leather dye. I am wondering if it is supposed to be used as it is or if it needs some dilution. If it needs dilution, what do i use ( i'm guessing alcool, but, if you can, be precise with the kind of alcool) and how much?
Thank you

Re: noob question ON STAINING
I use denatured alcohol (DNA) to dilute these leather dyes.
The first thinning is usually 1:1 equal volumes dye:alcohol. You can then dilute this mix 1:1 ad infinitum.
According to some, using multiple applications of thinned dye allows deeper penetration of the pigment, since the alcohol is the carrier of the pigment.
However, I frequently use undiluted dye straight from the container- depends on the effect I desire.
