Hello,I'm new to the forum. A long time ago I bought a block of predrilled brier and made a pipe. I am very close to retiring and I am getting back into my old hobbies, shortwave radio listening, homebrewing radios, photography to name a few. One of the things I want to do is make another pipe or two. I have a large chunk of wild rose bush root. I need to know if is toxic and how well it will work.

If you run a google search on a wood toxicity chart, I'm sure you'll get the information you're looking for. Someone posted a link to it in these forums at some point, but I don't recall which thread it was in.

Rosewood seems a bit dubious to me to be used for a pipe.

Rolando Negoita used to make pipes from Rose Hip burls back before he could get access to briar. You might try emailing him. He may be able to help you out.
