I am overwhelmed by the vast knowledge that has accumulated on these forums.
I believe that I must properly introduce myself. My name is Michael and I am new to the pipe-crafting art. I was recently offered the use of my wife's grandfather's shopsmith and a world of woodworking opened up to me. I have been a cigar smoker since my 18th birthday, and have recently picked up pipe smoking again after a less than favorable start. I have a Stanwell that is either a poor smoke or I am. I love the serenity that smoking brings, and I decided that I owed it to myself and the hobby to make a pipe that is worthy of smoking a fine tobacco.
Thus I decided to become a pipemaker. I have a lot more to learn, but I'm well on my way to making my first of many pipes.
Thanks for the plethora of knowledge
