Ex-Cigar Smoker-Pipe Tobacco Suggestions?

Post by bvak123 »

I used to be a cigar smoker. After a while I figured that the money and time invested in one good smoke was too steep. It's prolly been a year since I quit but I started thinking that a pipe might be the answer to my problems :) I picked up a Savinelli pipe and a sampler pack of tobacco to get started. My question is: What would you guys suggest I try? I know I liked maduro cigars and I wasn't particularly fond of aromatic cigars. Thanks for your advice in advance.

I usually smoke
Samuel Gawith: 1792 Flake (review)
Rattray: Hal O' the Wynd (review)
W.O. Larsen: Old Fashioned (review)

As you were a cigar smoker, you might like these:

If you know anyone who lives in Belgium ask them to send you some semois. It is by far the most cigarish tasting pipe tobacco I have ever had. It is one of my favs but is extremly strong and after about 1/4 bowl I'm spinning from the nicotine.
