Another basic question. Is it desirable to end up with a smooth pipe showing ring grain, as in the picture below, or would that be a perfect blasting pipe (for those of you with the capability)? My first thought is that I must have done a pretty good job of polishing, but I only hear about straight grain, flame grain and birdseye when smooth pipes are discussed.

Basically, you'll find some guys that like it, and some that don't. Generally speaking, I don't, but it is 100% just a matter of personal taste.
