Hey

This is my first rustic pipe. I have use a steel brush,
and first dye is red, second black.

Overall this looks well orchestrated. Minor tweaks I would do:
- The shank is a little "light" for the large size of the bowl. I would make the shank a little thicker. A thicker shank will also have the benefit of allowing you to accentuate the curve you worked into it.
- The stem is very visually heavy. It carries a lot of weight for a very long distance towards the button, making the pipe appear very stem-heavy even despite the large bowl. It looks as if it wants to tilt backwards as it's sitting there. By removing more material from the top and bottom of the stem, you'll significantly lighten it and create a more graceful shape. This is true even if the shank was thicker.
- The bottom of the bowl near the shank seems to have lost the shape that was started near the top. It begins to blend in with the shank too far up the side of the bowl, and the line that was started on the front isn't mirrored in the back. This is especially evident in the second picture. It's not too bad, but it's noticeable. A customer of mine once said "millimeters count", and it's very true.

I really like how you blended the rustication on the bottom. It was clearly done with purpose. Too many times wire wheel rustication ends up looking amateurish due to the way the lines are converged on the bottom of the pipe. This was blended very nicely to create a cohesive pattern. Nice job!

Thanks Kurt for comments, and I full agree, I don’t like the shape of this pipe at all, sorry for not mention this when I post it, I took this old pipe from the scrap heap just for tray to make this finish first time.

Thats probably the nicest wire brush rustication i have ever seen. Like Kurt said the shape could be tweeked a little but overall i think its a very nice pipe. Good job.

Very nice rustication. The bowl is a little large compared to the shank but I really like the look of this overall. Nice job.

I'm sure the critique is valid, but don't be too hard on yourself, I think it looks pretty damned good. I like it a lot, and the rustication, and the black and white idea, and the finish. Nice.
mredmond said that to avoid buffing off the stain on the peaks of a rusticated pipe, skip the tripoli, and go straight to the white diamond. I haven't made any rusticated pipes, or tried it yet, though. His blasted pipe was a black and white, too.
Both look very nice.

Questions: You put red on first, and then black over the red, right?
Why?

I’m very appreciate the critique from Kurt, and specially the tweaks about the stem, I have already use this yesterday and today, - thank you for this Kurt.

Mike thank you for the positive comment, this is like a power injection. I think is right if not use Tripoli the black stain will not be buffing off, but in this case I have plan to take off a little bit of the black, so the red coming, I think this is also answer your question.

How did you keep the area for your stamp clear? I think I have read that a lot of makers use electrical tape while sandblasting, did you use the same with your wire wheel? Thanks!

Thomas – I have tray different type of tape but no any of them is strong, broken after first touch from the wheel, so I just mark the area with a pen, and tray to not it touch with the wheel.
