So...anyone else tried TransTint dyes? They can be mixed with alcohol or water.

Curious as to how it compares to something like Fiebing's for staining pipes. I used it for my first pipe since I have some on hand, but unsure if I'd want to keep using it if I really should be using Fiebings instead.

Re: TransTint dyes?
I have. They're good stains and work well. However, I prefer the Feibings for their consistency from bottle to bottle.
Re: TransTint dyes?
I've used them for years mixed with alcohol, although the last few years I've used them less and less because like Kurt, I prefer Feiblings for the same reasons.

The problem is I can't find Fiebing's locally. I went on a search today and came up empty. Looks like I'll have to order it online. Was just wondering if color-wise it matched up to Fiebing? I think that's the issue is trying to get a consistent color with it.

Re: TransTint dyes?
You could probably use transtint dyes to make a similar color to the Fiebings if you have an example to test with. Just be sure to keep notes of your recipes so that you can reproduce it again.
This place has good prices on the Fiebings:
