Shop set up
Shop set up
I've checked out some of the links provided and found those that had photo's of thier shops to be very helpful. I'm trying to set up my shop in the most efficient way, as well as the build steps. Do folks do the same step on several blocks or do you take one pipe from start to finish? I would love more shop photo’s if folks have them.
Thank You, Gabe.

Hello Gabe,
I love seeing shop pics too--they can be really helpful. I've got a workshop page on my new website (it was on the old site too, so you may have seen it there). The link to the new site should be in my sig line now. Once there, just click on the Workshop link.
I was working on one pipe at a time untill completely finished, but I did the last five in two batches (a batch of 3, and another batch of two). I found it was a lot more enjoyable to work multiple pipes through each stage, and more productive too. I'll be trying to work in batches from here on out. Sometimes there is some downtime when stain or epoxy is drying, but you still want to work. Just move to another pipe. Other times I find I'll get a little frustrated with one, move to another for a while, then back to the first and have an entirely different outlook.

I have a pic or two of my shop on my site. I think it took me 4 hours of straightening up to get it to a photo-worthy condition.

I am currenlty revamping my shop and have decided to base it on the "work triangle" concept used in designing kitchen layouts.

Mine is going to be something like one of these...

I just have to figure out where the drilling, shaping, stem work stations are going to be. Thanks to my wifes cousin Kim the kitchen and bath designer for bringing it to my attention.
