something new in process, now ready

Post by daniel »

generally i´d like to see more pictures of the proces of making a pipe.

these pictures are from yesterday or the day before..
the pipe is sanded and ready for under stain/coat.

Perhaps it's intentional... perhaps it will look better when completed, but to my eye the fluting looks uneven and all over the place.

The uneven depth of fluting has made the bowl/shank junction noticeably thinner than the rest of the shank, giving it a too skinny "neck".
Regards,
Frank.

well, there are no accidents.
I´m exited about the color, it´s partially like milk coffee or chocolate.
i think i´ll play with this in future to get it more like milkchoco.
i hope the pictures show it, even though i´m afraid not.

comments are welcome.
it is made keeping in mind one persons wishes,
but it had an alternative buyer already when it was in proces.

Sorry, I have to agree with Frank's opinion about the fluting. Irregular might be okay if that's the way you like it but the taper on the shank should be the other way around and not thinning towards the bowl.

nice to hear android!

no need to apologise anything guys. critique is only good for me.

theres just this thing.
In my opinion the it´s good that the thinnest part of the shank is at the junction, i thought that it will take of the "robust" look, i´m not sure how to say it in english, damn, i´m not even sure how to say it in finnish.
i just think that it gives the pipe a totally different look,
i couldnt imagine it with a reggular shank..
one thing about the irregularity of the fluting(?) is the certain symmetry it still has.
what i see is that the lower part of the stem matches the upper part of the shank... see the side pictures.
aargh, maybe these are things that i can only see.
and probably other dont take them as notthing even if they saw it.

well it was fun to do this pipe.

more comments are welcome.
