That gives me an idea. Wonder if I can hold onto a table saw blade? All joking aside, people that don't respect machinery shouldn't be around it.

Frankly,I think the human race lost out, and Darwin missed a golden opportunity. Just think, this guy is going to procreate and pass on The Dumb...

The last words of a redneck: "Hold my beer. Hey y'all, watch this shit!"

The last words a redneck hears: "Dude......holy shit."

If they are trying to remove the chuck then they are turning it the wrong way for a start. Silly boys.

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a feat of strength. Maybe part of a Festivus celebration.

I'm sure he'll have some grievances to air next year.

It first was going to take his hand and arm off but he had the sense to let go. Too bad his foot was still there though. If that kid didn't have the reaction to flop his body over the lathe and follow the revolving arc it would have easily pulled his leg off at the hip. It woul have made a distinctive POP! probaably would have severed his femoral artery and he'd be laying there watching his buddies yuck it up. Pretty friggin' scarey. I have seen a lot of these things in farming accidents (ie getting hung up in a PTO shaft etc) and almost always it could have been prevented.

That just goes to show that a new warning label must be placed on new lathes. You know, like don't use a lawnmower as a hedge trimmer.

Someone should send this link to Ralph Nader, he needs to champion a new cause.

I'm pretty sure their shop teacher gave them plenty of safety lessons before turning his back on those bozos. It's a wonder that any men live past 23 years - we do a lot of stupid stuff when we're young.
