Kurt

Glad your back online, but online really doesn't matter.. hope your family made it fine through the power issues.

Now it's time to stock on up on fluid for the generator again

take care

Welcome Back, for sure. I checked your tweets on twitter when the forum went down. That was a good idea to post and let people know what was happening. Thanks, and sorry, there wasn't much any of us could do to help you out.
The Hurricanes that went through here, 200 mi. inland, in 2003-2005 were the freakiest things I've ever seen. Pretty scary.
I've been watching these things for a long time, and I would keep an eye on Katia, but I think it's going to turn North before it gets to the U.S. when it meets up with the sub-tropical remnant of Lee off the East coast later next week. I hope.

Thanks guys!

It was interesting. :)

I managed to keep the food cold and water flowing with my generator, but damn that's the most expensive electricity you'll ever pay for. The rest was incidental, of course. Light came from oil lamps and candles, and since the stove is gas we had no problems with cooking. If I had the server hosted in a datacenter, I wouldn't have missed mains power at all. Turns out we already live very frugally, so there really wasn't a major adjustment.

That said, I'm glad to have the mains back. Now I have to play catch-up on these orders. Thankfully so far everyone has been very understanding.

I never realised until just now there could be a link between the news of storms in the US and PMF going down...

Glad everyone (and everything, like the server) is ok! Welcome back to the modern world Kurt!

Glad you're OK and that the forum is back, Kurt. Seems like something is missing in my day if I don't have a quick peek at the Forum!
