Yeti Pipe #27- The Heretic

Post by The Smoking Yeti »

This is an interesting commission for sure, and it actually comes with two stems, the one depicted, and a churchwarden- I just shot it with it's standard stem though, because it's the one I based the composition around. The customer asked for an additional churchwarden stem on the side, and it doesn't balance quite as well visually.

So anyways, here she is.

Behold away gents!

Oh yeah, critique is always welcome, don't worry, I have thick skin!

Cheers!

Hi Yeti,
shall we have a look on the chuchwarden version ?
It seems to be a really good one, I like the shape.
But is it your photo ? it looks like a mat or soft (satin) finish...

Best regards,

Best regards,
It's actually a very high gloss piece, I just lit it very softly, so the highlights are subtle. If I hold it in the sunlight the high gloss is VERY pronounced.

Oh, and I suppose I can probably go about taking a photo of the churchwarden version- I'm not that big of a fan, but hey, the customer requested it.

Welp, that name is taken, we could name one "The Anti-Christ" if you like, or maybe something a bit more reformed, like "Zwingli"

Great work with great grain/birdseye.
The only nit I will pick, and it is strictly a personal one, would be to have just a little more meat under the chin.

I see what you mean Chas, I'll definitely keep that in mind if I re-visit this shape! :D

Beautiful!
In the 1st pic, the stem angle seem to be a little high, although on the 2nd it looks OK. But that's being said out of pure jealousy!
