Recently, the gentleman mentioned in passing how he now regretted having the pipes mounted because smoking them was impossible, and smoking them a few final times was what he wished he could do. His friend said he'd check around to see if that was possible.
The board and the story behind it found me a few days ago, and I said I'd do everything I could to return them to virtually-new condition. I was honored.

The curve ball is that the middle one was dropped at some point, the shank exploded, and a makeshift repair of encasing epoxy was used to return it to service.

There are obviously a number of technical challenges to pulling this off, but the tough stuff is what makes repair work fun after a while. I'll post the result.
