Pipe of the Psilocybe
Pipe of the Psilocybe
This was a commissioned piece that I just finished, feels good to be done this one!
I'm super happy with the final result. The colour scheme really came together.
If anyone is interested in seeing how this was made, I put the progress photographs on my blog, http://blog.dmpipes.com/
And it passes a pipe cleaner
The materials:
Stem - Maple
Mouthpiece - African blackwood, pink ivory
Mushroom cap - Mahogany
Bowl - African blackwood
Nodules - Purpleheart
Hinge - Brass

Only you can post a non-briar, mushroom shaped pipe on this forum, and be respected for it...meathod wrote:This was a commissioned piece that I just finished, feels good to be done this one!

Re: Pipe of the Psilocybe
Speechless. My goodness would have to boil the pipe cleaner first? Al dente? Beautiful work.

Seriously, that's a very nice compliment!
Thanks everyone!
And, this works best with the softer pipe cleaners that can bend, of course. A little more maintenance, yes, but the small price you pay for the design I suppose.

Pipe of the Psilocybe
Just beautiful. Those gills are a neat touch, but I'd worry about crushing them.

What's all the excitement about? Looks like a Dunhill LB to me.
UFOs must be real. There's no other explanation for cats.

Of all the incredibly interesting and well made work you've done, the pipes with a full S curve with a mushroom on the end are my favorites. Killer work.
Re: Pipe of the Psilocybe
Thanks everyone! Your kind words are much appreciated!
I would equate it somewhat to the "suede" blast, looks fragile, but isn't.
Of course, if you dig your fingernail into it and try to do damage, you'll do damage.
You would think, by looking at them, that they would be fragile. But, since they are grouped so closely together, they are quite durable. I handled them pretty roughly as I was finish sanding etc.DeflictedPipes wrote:Just beautiful. Those gills are a neat touch, but I'd worry about crushing them.

Re: Pipe of the Psilocybe
Goes without saying, the pipe is AH-MAY-ZING.
...but worth pointing out, the photos are pretty frikkin' awesome too. I'd be interested in hearing about your photo setup.
