hi rad
as a user of the jet bd-920 what tools are you using to cut your tenons
do you grind your own- use a carbine insert tool . right now i using a ar8
carbine tipped tool- what speed do you use to cut the tenon. also what tool are you using to countersink your mortise with or does the aircraft countersink do both square the shank and countersink the mortise
thanks

question for rad davis on tools and anyone using 9x20 lathe
Hey Jim,
I use HSS bits in my lathe. I get them from Grizzly and sharpen them on my bench grinder when they need it.
Carbide/cobalt bits need something that I don't have to sharpen them. They are very hard, so I don't use them.
I don't know what speed (rpm) I use to cut tenons. The belt is on the second set of pulleys from the outside.
To countersink the mortise, I use a regular old counter sinking bit that I chuck up in my dill press.
The aircraft counter bore doesn't counter sink. It just squares off the shank face.
