A very different kind of pipe
This one is very different. It's a "pipe hawk" - a functional tomahawk, and the back side of the head is a pipe. The guy that makes these does a sole authorship on them - from forging out the head and bowl, to fitting the handle, and casting pewter inlay, and inletting silver.

Hey, thanks for posting that, Kurt! I was thinking about it myself, but you beat me to it. Thanks for the compliments. For the record, it's a lot easier to make one of these than a good clean knife like the one you posted a few threads down. I still can't do that.
Frank, the main bore is 1/4" and runs full-length from end to end, and the shorter channel to the bowl is 1/8" in the steel and 3/16" in the wood. In other words, easy to clean and hard to clog. Plus you never have to worry about burnout, and you can intimidate the antismoking folks with it.
It is kinda hard to hold it between the teeth, though...

You say that like that knife didn't surprise the bejeezuz out of me when I looked at it all finished!Alan L wrote:Hey, thanks for posting that, Kurt! Lets see - first time I did metal (never mind copper!) bolsters, first time using giraffe bone, first time peening pins, and first time with dovetailed bolsters. Nobody is more surprised than me. And the fact that I got it done in time for the newbie KITH over on knife network is even more surprising. Now it goes to Stephen Vanderkolff - I just hope it's good enough to pass muster with him. Well, it should be okay, as long as he ignores the sheath....
If you don't mind, Alan, PM or email with your pricing info for your hawks.
