#0016 Reverse Calabash Billard

Post by pzhan »

I always wanted a reverse calabash pipe. it is just too good to be passed.
A few days ago, I was hit by 'a nature bullet' (cracked briar),

But thanks to that, I can make some experiment.
I make the briar into a Reverse Calabash Billard with some rustication(which i never tried before. )
Here are some photos, and please let me know what you think.

Oddly disturbing. Quite a clever save, really, but I would anticipate some market resistance demanding significant advertising revenues in order to establish a beachhead.

Pretty cool. For some reason, I wish the briar inside the chamber was stained.

I think it's awesome, Ping. Mind if I tinker around with the idea at some point?

Yeah, this design may not for everyone.
But I think it is more for the functionality, and also looks cool with some fun or just a laugh.

Wayne, thanks and I don't mind if you make your own version of it.
Actually, the idea was borrowed from the master Reyvagin.

Ha, another pipe maker using glass. This is what I like to see.

How does that joint hole up when you smoke it? Glass on wood joints have been a bit of a trouble for me.

It seems as though wood will wear quite quickly against glass, and the joint becomes loose.

And since glass and wood expand differently, that could be an issue...maybe.

Or is that acrylic? ha.

Also, how do you find this effects the smoke? Do you think that the cool surface of the glass (if it is glass) condenses moisture well?
Take a look at my pipe website!

it is acrylic
the joint is fine. the structure is similar with army mount. that means i cut an angle on the stem and inside the tube.
I haven't smoked it yet, but i will let you know how it smokes.
