Yeti Pipe #26- The Sapper

Post by The Smoking Yeti »

This was another commissioned piece(go figure), the commissioner loved what I did with the Forgemaster, and wanted me to go off that idea, so here she be. An interplay of panels and texture, the rustication on the side is meant to be industrial lookin' whilst the rustication on the top and the shank cap are meant to mimic the more organic form of plateau.

I'm just making sure it's clear to everyone that the top is a rustication, not natural plateau- as was mentioned on another thread, its best to make that clear.

The accent rings are aluminum and African blackwood,

Oh- and TJ, I took the photos on my workbench, and made minimal adjustments(exposure etc) so these photos should be better for critique.

Cheers!

Maaaan I'd kill for one of your pipes. Your aesthetic really appeals to me.

In unrelated news, it's my birthday tomorrow.

Ridiculous, just ridiculous. Fine craftsmanship.
Thus o’er my pipe, in contemplation
Of such things, I can constantly
Indulge in fruitful meditation
And so, puffing contentedly,
On land, on sea, at home, abroad,
I smoke my pipe and worship God.

I'm semi-sure that's illegal in most states.

I think it all comes down to the pipe you're killing for.

"but rev, isn't smoking a sin?"

well I suppose if one were to smoke to excess it would be a sin

"but what would be smoking to excess?"

Why smoking two pipes at once of course

I really like a well-made panel pipe, and I really like this one. The recessed panels are really beautiful and yet, they don't steal the show as everything on this pipe looks to be (at least, to me) in balance and harmony.

I also am amazed at that rustication on top and at the end of the ! I totally thought that was plateau. The aluminum ring works great too.

And nice photography. Well done!
