Chicago Meeting

Post by Tyler »

Guys,

We should get together in Chicago.

I think it would be great to finally get to meet lots of you guys in person, and the conversation would be great.

I have also had lots of side conversations about a pipe makers' website and other ideas, and getting together to hash out such ideas might be helpful. (Then again, we'd probably walk away with more good ideas and not much for a plan of action...but it would be fun! :D )

Crosby and I have been working up a T-shirt idea, so we might have by the show as well.

So...who's going to be there, and when would be the best time to meet? I was thinking Thursday evening sometime, but make your votes and we'll see if that provides any clarity for a best time.

SEE YOU THERE!! :thumb:

Tyler,

I won't get to the resort until 8:00 pm or so on Thursday. I prefer any time after Thursday night.

See you there!

I'm not going to be in Chicago, but I would like to put in a request for a follow up meeting in Richmond. :)

Thursday nite has Pros and Cons for me:

Pro: meeting everyone early enough to be saying Hi and hanging out together the whole wkend.

Con: Thursday nite is the Japanese pipemakers reception and also usually the best time to see your favorite pipemakers' work before the show.
Last year Kent Rasmussen, Eltang, and several others had sold their best offerings before Friday mornings' opening.

That said, late on Thursday nite suits me very well. I plan to sleep very little Friday nite anyway 8)

How late would you guys be willing to get together. I hear what Magruder is saying, so later is definitely better. Unfortunately, there are pro's and con's no matter which night we do it.

10pm?
11pm?

How late?

What about earlier Thursday? Like 4pm? Before all the room hopping kicks into full gear.

Anytime works for me, but some of us aren't as young and tolerant of late nights as brother Jeff seems to be.

On second thought, 10:00 pm Thursday sounds good. A great way to start off a great weekend. It will give new timers like myself a chance to get some tips from the old hands! :D

id say later at night in either Neil or Tylers room, mybe around 10:00pm. if this is so, then someone who is going to get there earlier on thiursday has to make up a flier to put on the bulletin board by the front door of the hotel so we can all check that bulletin board and see what tyler, or neils room # is that day, so we know where and when to meet.

And hey are we all going to do a group hug? I think some need one!LOL

You guys know that TLP is up to 227 members right now, don't you? I know that not everyone is going to the show, but still.... we could get the fire marshall called on us! Then the host will inevitably be kicked out of the resort, banned from the show for 3 years, and have a tarnished name in the pipe industry for at least a decade!

So, Neil, Tyler....

Who wants to host the get together!?

:P

sure my room is fine, i was just saying that we have to get a specific person to post where to meet, trust me, in chicago you can get side tracked very easy if there is no direction, it is a huge place, with lots o people to see and talk to! LOL
