I haven't posted one for critique in a long while so here's one to hopefully appease the pipe goddesses. Proportionally speaking, this is the best billiard I have made to date. The stem to stummel lengths and the bowl height to shank lengths are within a few hundreths of each other. Feel free to critique.

Are you talking about Scottie?wdteipen wrote:I haven't posted one for critique in a long while so here's one to hopefully appease the pipe goddesses.
Was that your KC entry, Wayne? I remember it was a really nice pipe.
Re: Straight Billiard All Briar
No, this was the prototype/first attempt. The stem has a very tiny sand speck. I decided to start over and do a ring grain blast instead of this cross grain since I had to remake a stem anyway. I still couldn't catch a break with my entry. It had a sand speck on the stem also and wasn't as nicely shaped or proportioned as this one although the blast was better. The stem shank line on my entry was a bit wonky. I didn't expect it to win but it's what I was able to finish which is better than nothing at all I suppose.

Geez, Wayne. When are you gonna start making nice pipes?

Well I guess I should say something since I started all this crap.
I really like both of these pipes Wayne. I took a good look at your contest pipe too.
I haven't made a briar stem yet, but thought about it last week.
