I have not, sounds great though. Maybe I can achieve a similar effect with yellow, tan, and DNA.

Hey guys, does anyone have a trusty recipe for a rich blonde stain? Yellow fiebings alone is way to yellow. But tan is basically brown.

flush stem fit
Hey guys, so I have successfully made a flush stem fit a plenty of times now. But now I'm in a interesting predicatment. through my brain not being all there, I have slightly changed the shank face on a nearly done piece. Suggestions on how I can rectify this?

Yes, I found something similar that works for me now. I chuck the 12 inch bit on the headstock, after having piloted an inch or so of with the stem on the headstock using the standard method, then slowly and steadily pushed the stem rod onto the drill bit by hand. Thanks Oklahoma, where did you get your 1/16 bit? and does anyone know where i can get a norseman 5/32 12in bit? I cant find one above 6 in on amazon, and Fastenal will order one for me but it will cost around $40.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go, I tried the freehand before, but i couldn't keep the hole clean and true to the bit's diameter .

Thank you sandahl, i used 1/8 only because its what iv found in a the caste stems i used to use, and because they carry it at Ace Hardware. 1) i have my lathe at the lowest possible speed 2) the drill bit was new 3) i havent been able to go slow enough to where it doesnt burn. 4) im not able to quic...
