Re: Umm...
I have one of those pipes. Mine is a Mastercraft and I like it. Flipping the top to tamp can be tedious but, it is a pretty good smoke. I would like to know how the screen is fabricated and installed on the bowl. I don't see any pins and it looks like the screen is all one piece. I got it in a batch...

Re: reclocking a stem
Thanks, LatakiaLover.
I knew it would be a pain but I think these old pipes are worth it. Sure wish they could talk. Where have they been, who smoked them, why do I have them now. Lot of untold history in my hand.

Re: reclocking a stem
Thanks, JMG. I thought about that. Maybe with a little heat applied to the stingers to help the stem plastic move. I hope George will chime in.

reclocking a stem
I have a couple of old Dr. Grabpow pipes that the stems are over tightened. How do I reclock the stems without having to make spacers? Can I heat the stem and turn the stinger?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: 9mm Filter?
Todd, The Joby filters that I have are labeled "Dr Perl Junior " with a Vauen trade mark are 7.9mm in diameter and 35.8mm long. That is an average of five filters. I, too, would get a filter from your customer to make sure that you both are on the same filter page. Happy New Year to all of...

Re: Storign pipes hanging by stem
While we are discussing pipe storage. is there any negatives to storing pipe "European style", stems down? I run cleaners thru the stems and wipe the bowls before storage so they are dry, mostly. I'm not detecting any fluids in the bits when I smoke them.

Re: What lighters or styles do you prefer?
I've been using the Vertigo "Governor" for about a 2 years now. I've been surprised that the quartz ignition has worked as long as it has. I've not been lucky with the quartz method of lighting before but these have been flawless. The tank is quite adequate for a pipe lighter. A Zippo with...

Re: Help with Silver Cap??
Todd, Any good jeweler would be able to make such a thing for you. When I was working in the trade we made a lot of custom items for our clients. It takes some experience working in silver to draw, form and solder it I'm pretty crafty but it was not something I wanted to make. I designed it and the ...

I haven't received the pipe yet (maybe today). But, I'm very excited to get it fired up. I'm sure that it will be one of my "perfect" smokes.

Re: Artisan pipe cases
meathod I am not a pipe maker. I am a designer of various things and wouldn't ever be on the level of the masters here. So, I'm not going to try. I am a pipe smoker and accumulator of tobacco pipes. Sometimes I feel the need to carry a pipe were it might get damaged. I would like something to protec...

Had the damn message in front of me and still mispelled it. My apologies Mr. Connoy. I don't like Royal Yacht anyway, and I still like your work.

Artisan pipe cases
Inspired by the beautiful work by Walt Comoy, in his meerschuam billiard and case, got me rethinking making custom hard pipe cases. I've thought about it for a long time and I think that I have come up with a way to do them. They would be made to a specific pipe. With whatever custom touches the cus...

Re: Assembling the Pieces: Creating Harmony
To me, it is distracting. The pinch is an abruptness amongst all those flowing lines. My eye wants the flowing to continue. Maybe a gentle bead on the stem would smooth out the abruptness? I don't think a taper would do it. It would make this beutiful thing clunky, by adding to much visual mass to t...

Re: Assembling the Pieces: Creating Harmony
Folks, if I may. I'm not a pipe maker but I've been designing things for over forty years. That said, I like the long stem on this pipe because: The curve continues the line of the bowl. I almost expect to see some continuation of the flow. The short stem is abrupt and visually jarring. The long ste...

Re: Pipe Lighting Implements
UncleDraken I use a bunch of different lighters. The ones I use the most are Zippos with the pipe insert and Imco G77r's. If you use the Zippo, use the low odor Zippo lighter fluid. Let the flame burn for a couple of seconds before touching the flame to your tobacco and you will not get the lighter ...
