Been a long time since last posting anything, but here's finally one. A speedy billiard/apple with bamboo shank.
It has a sort of story behind it, in the beginning i didn't care for the use of bamboo as an adornement in pipes until i one day saw a simple bamboo billiard made by Tom Eltang... and i was sold instantly. I realised that it is possible to use bamboo (or other materials, for that matter) on a pipe in such a way that, when you look at it, you get the feeling that it was the only possible way for that pipe to be made.
This often happens to me when i look at pipes made by Per or Ulf from S.Bang, that there's only one possible shape in the world for that one particular block to take, and these guys nail it 99,5% of the time...
Ofcourse this requires about a lightyear more talent than i have, but this sort of echoes that Eltang bamboo i saw.
1502 - Swanny;
This was my first bamboo experiment, it was slow, challenging and fun. The pipe has several issues, for example the stem is a bit hastily made...
This will also be my last for a while, there's some moving and house things going on in real life which require me, with a heavy heart, to pack up the 'workshop' and put this pipemaking thing on hold for a while. Hopefully a short while, but could easily take a few years... But as a silver lining in this business there's a fair chance that in the future i might have a bigger, separate workshop that could allow for more serious approach to pipemaking.
But in the meantime, would like to hear your thoughts and don't hold back.
Thanks.
EDIT: Yes, the photos are crappy and the chamber's not sanded. I apologize for these insults
