My First Volcano

Post by sprangalang »

I've been working on this one a while. It came out totally different from what I set out to do (as have all my pipes so far :p), but I kinda like it. Sorry about my lousy pics.

Really great bud!!

I like it alot! Nice job on the stem adornment.

The thing that bugs me most is that I can't figure out what the white things are in the case below! D'OHH!

My guess, judging by the checkerboard context, would be very eggy chess pieces, perhaps out of meerschaum even.

Nice pipe sprangalang! The convex bottom looks a bit strange on a volcano though. Were you trying to keep that little bit of plateau on the bottom, ran out of room with the chamber, or chose that look as a design element? What material did you use for white bands? Just curious.

Kbadkar,
It IS an egg-chess set! We are the egg-family (family joke). I'm not sure what material the chess pieces are made of, but they are impressively heavy. A "Targette" special!
Once I decided against a natural rough plateau bottom, I wanted to accent the birdseye, but still have a nice hand-feel. And I thought the rounded bottom would be interesting. :) The "ivory" is cheap-ass fake ivory, nothing special. Thanks for the comments!
