Treating bamboo?
Treating bamboo?
Doing a bamboo shaft on a pipe, it's going to be a removeable section, basically. Do you guys treat the inside of bamboo so that it isn't just a sponge for yucky pipe juice? It strikes me as being fairly absorbant and acting like a filter (but one you can't replace). Was thinking to treat the inside tube with something, or should I be looking to do a metal sleeve all the way up?
ALL YOUR PIPE ARE BELONG TO US!
Re: Treating bamboo?
Nah. The raw bamboo will do just fine.
Re: Treating bamboo?
The great thing about bamboo, aside from being light, is that it does act like a sponge for yucky pipe juice. To treat or line it would be self-defeating. I haven't had any nasty side effects from years of goo build up... I consider it "seasoning" of the shank.
