1. BO NORDH: Dublin-Canadian (1983)
(lightly smoked, tweaked and polished by Teddy) (on the left)
2. TOKUTOMI: Tribute to Bo Nordh
(Hiro grade, BN briar, 2008) (unsmoked) (on the right)

In a previous gallery post of one of my pipes, in Todd Johnson's critique he said that he saw tool marks on the face of the stem, and I said, yes, I turn and face the pipe shank and the stem face perfectly flat and perpendicular on the lathe and then only lightly and briefly sand them 400 grit (and then on up) so that I get a perfect fit with no light cracks when the pipe is assembled.
Note the tool marks on the stem and shank faces on both the Tokutomi and the Bo Nordh pipes, above.
