Cedar lined storage?
Hey, so I know with cigar humidors they're cedar lined to help maintain the moisture content. Have any of you heard of something similar like a cedar lined jar for storing pipe tobacco? I need info on this one.

if part of your goal is to impart some cedary flavor to the tobacco like with cigars, i guess why not. but do not use cedar, its aroma is too strong. humidors and cigar boxes use spanish cedar, which is actually not cedar at all. its in the mahogany family and much less aromatic than cedar.

I'm getting the vibe that I shouldn't delve into this realm at all- I'll stick with the glass jars.

Stopped smoking cigars (issues with inhaling!), but still have few hundred left. I have a 5,000 cigar, stand alone humidor which I have been filling with tobacco for the past year, none of it jarred as I keep it humidified at about 62 or 3 percent. The Smoking Yeti wrote:I'm getting the vibe that I shouldn't delve into this realm at all- I'll stick with the glass jars.
Haven't noticed any cigar or cedar taste, whatsoever, in any of the baccy.
