Trying to hold him off (I have a life outside of work you know...) but I might have to comply. In that case I'll do my best to drop down there on the 5th, but it might take another week...
Thanks for the update!

Just wanted to let you know that I sent my payment to you and many thanks for taking on this job. It seemed like a simple thing at first but between a couple hundred posts and the spreadsheet you managed I realized what an large effort you put forth. Once again, many thanks!!!

I just informed my manager that I won't be able to coach a team during the hackathon, simply doesn't fit into my schedule (really doesn't...)

Haven't heard back from him yet, but planning should proceed as originally intended!

Hey guys,

All the funds are in! I'll be transferring funds to Massis soon and then the ball is in his court.

My understanding is that the order will be picked up on May 4th and shipped soon after.

As usual, I'll keep you posted.

the funds have arrived in my paypal safe and sound and will be transfered to my bank asap.

My wife, my son and I are dropping down to Vincent Manil's shop on May 4th indeed :-)

When I have the order I'll provide some pictures :-) I plan on sending the 4 packages out a few days apart to make sure there's no fuzz with customs...

As the boys are tied up in Chicago (and I'm sure Sas had fun catching everyone and holding them down for Mr. Sparkle) I thought I would see if we are still on for pickup tomorrow.

Yup, as scheduled. Strangely enough the funds haven't reached my bank yet (I have them on paypal), but I made sure I have the needed cash on hand...

I live near Hasselt, the exact opposide side of the country...
Maybe you can drop by on the way home? If so, let me know and I'll bring you what you need from Vincent Manil's place!

So, big day today. First of all, let me say the following: Vincent is really an amazing guy! So passionate about his work, yet so laid back and friendly.

Then, onto business. There's good and bad news.
The good news is, I have - excuse the word - a shitload of tobacco in my study! Vincent happened to have some ancient preturned stummels handy so I bought some of them for €1 each.

the bad news then: Vincent only managed to create 6 boxes of bouchons. remember, these are made by hand, piece by piece.
instead, I got an extra pouch of 250 gr wide cut for 10€ instead of €25. I'm sure we can work something out. I ordered half a box but am willing to give some up so everyone gets some.

Then a bit more of an issue: as bouchons are a local, handmade and unique product, theres no tax label for them. this means I dont have a valid way of putting them on the customs form yet. Furthermore, i would want to ship them seperately, but that'll cost us an extra €32... I'll work something out...

Just to get you guys more anxious: I smoked a 'delice de corbion' today, my first belgian cigar... and they are amazing! I'm no expert, but his cigars are really good stuff!

On a more personal note: Vincent is interested in my pipes and might become my first retailer :-D

I'm having trouble pulling up David's google doc with the order totals. How many boxes of Bouchons were there supposed to be total? I think I remember either 6.5 or 7??

I'm at a loss as far as the customs form for the Bouchons goes. They are technically pipe tobacco so I would think that a pipe tobacco stamp would work for our purposes. I would even go as far as to attach a copy of the picture on Vincent's price sheet (to the customs forms) showing that they are meant to be smoked in a pipe....visual aids are always a plus with a rare item. I would also suggest sending them either UPS or FEDEX, both have their own setup with customs here in the US and if we were to run into problem we will get a call from UPS or FEDEX instead of a letter from customs down the line that the package is being held in some warehouse somewhere.
