here is another i recently finished... nice grain on one side at least. any criticism welcomed and appreciated. thanks.

Re: horn
I dig the shape. The stem work is really good. I like smaller pipes. To sell professionally, I think most makers would rusticate or sandblast that briar due to the meh grain. Nice job otherwise, Sam.
Re: horn
Nice pipe, Sam!
The bend in the stem lacks continuity for me. It starts then flattens out. There's almost, but not quite, a kink in the middle to my eyes.

I'm not seeing that kink that David is.

nice pipe... love it...

Re: horn
Good shaping, Sam. I like it, and like it a lot actually. Shame about the briar that's a bit iffy.
Re: horn
Nice work. I like the extension. Is that ivory?
Re: horn
That's because you're eyes are getting old (says the guy with an optometrist appointment this afternoon).RadDavis wrote:Nice pipe, Sam!

Seriously though, "kink" may be too dramatic of a word. To my eyes, the stem begins to curve from the saddle, then flattens out half way through. Less "kink," more "the line of the stem lacks continuity."
I could also be completely wrong. It has happened before.

Re: horn
Sam, nice pipe... I'm not seeing the kink either... Could just be angles and light your seeing David

How did you know I got contacts?sam a wrote:fixed.UberHuberMan wrote: There's almost, but not quite, a kink in the middle of my eyes.

Yup, seems I'm the only one seeing that. On closer inspection, I'm really only noticing it in the hand photos. Maybe it is a light thing. ::shrug::
Well in any case, this is a sweet pipe. Keep up the good work!

I balanced the monitor upside down on my cat's back. During the .03 seconds that worked I totally saw the truth.RadDavis wrote:Yeah, David, try looking at your computer from a different angle.

Re: horn
Thats funny, I meant to type David.
At least now we are clear. David thinks they're kinky, but they DO NOT arouse Rad at all.
