I am researching metal spinning and hopefully will be doing my own aluminum bands on the next one.
Aluminum makes a lousy pipe mounting metal for many reasons, and is best avoided.
Sterling silver is the industry standard for an equal number of
good reasons, and much easier to work besides.
So called "German silver"---which is just a fancy name for nickel---is what you should start with, I think. Inexpensive, doesn't corrode, looks OK, and is fairly easy to work.
Keep it up, dude. Judging by what you posted on PF since joining, you've got the required passion and determination for sure, and your skills and eye are coming along nicely.
