Compressor install question
Compressor install question
I had a pipe maker tell me to just leave my compressor bolted to the pallet it was delivered on. I was going to bolt it to the garage floor and use vibration pads.
The lazy cheap side of me likes the "leave it on the pallet" idea but wanted some opinions.
Any reason I shouldn't leave it on the pallet?
Thanks!

Re: Compressor install question
Mine has lived on its pallet for 8 years. Vibration and noise has never been a problem, but it also isn't in the main workshop either.

Wait till you get 'er plugged in, Kurt, then it'll be a lot louder.

It plugs in? I've been filling it with my truck tires! The damn gas station has been making a mint on me!
Re: Compressor install question
If it's a nicely balanced machine either way would work. I got regular insulating feet for mine from McMaster/Carr, no bolting to anything necessary, just install the feet. Make sure they're rated for the weight of your compressor.

Its easier to move around. It also gves you a few more inches for your auto drain on the bottom
Re: Compressor install question
Sounds good!
Re: Compressor install question
I bolted mine to the floor. I'm a 'if you're going to do it, do it right' kinda guy. Okay, not really but I did bolt mine to the floor.

Re: Compressor install question
I bolted mine down as well but when I bought it the guy had been running it bolted on the pallet it was shipped on. So yes, either way will work just fine.

Re: Compressor install question
Mine is arriving tomorrow. I'll be happy if I can get it from the curbside to the basement given that we've had snow on the ground since early December. Once there...I believe it will be sitting on the pallet, at least for now.
Re: Compressor install question
Bolting your compressor to the floor is essential! Lest your house come off its foundation.
Hope this helps.

Basement eh ? You know what these things weigh ? And that most of it is awkwardly balanced on top ?maddis wrote:Mine is arriving tomorrow. I will say a prayer.

Re: Compressor install question
Yep. I'm hiring two mondo men movers. I also have a bulkhead so that will help.
Re: Compressor install question
Apologies if I'm hijacking the OP, but it seems relevant: My compressor is here and tomorrow is dedicated to getting it up and running. I have a pressure regulator and air/water filter to run in between the compressor and the blasting cabinet. Any considerations in setting these up? Do they need to be mounted to the wall for example, or above/below anything else?

Re: Compressor install question
I just installed a new compressor, two of them in fact.
Totaled up to about 2700 HP worth. They'll put out about 34,700 CFM at 1250 psi.
I didn't bolt them down. I just left them on the pallets they shipped on.

May I send my magnum lovat to be blasted? It's 2 feet in height and 7 feet in length.Tyler wrote:I just installed a new compressor, two of them in fact.

I didn't bold them down. I just left them on the pallets they shipped on.
Sorry, but I don't have a cork to fit in the bowl.
Re: Compressor install question
I forgot to add: Do not to try to take a 80 gal compressor off the pallet by yourself. Don't ask me how I know but I believe the story is somewhere in the archives.

That's some pretty funny stuff right there.baweaverpipes wrote:May I send my magnum lovat to be blasted? It's 2 feet in height and 7 feet in length.Tyler wrote:I just installed a new compressor, two of them in fact.
