I put the Cumberland ring on this thinking that it needed something to help balance things out since the bowl is rather large. I got close, but still feel it is a touch bowl heavy.
to me, its the shape of the ring. its a little thick and squared off. For me it would have to be super thin and short to work on a shape like that. I think its one of those "you cant please everyone" type of choices.
This is probably wrong for other technical reasons like the angle of the cant and cutting a wedge off the stummel will show more material on the front and back of the top. but I like the ring suits the long shank and the stem.
edit: Actually never mind. I was flipping between the two and any more than half the angle I took off is probably too severe.
Like this one a lot Scottie . On the fence about the ring though , think maybe little less taper from bowl to bit but you are already on top of it. Can't wait to see another one of your skinny shank creations.
