no problem.. and for future picture posting, do the following:

1.copy the address of the image: http://www.blah.com/gallery/directory/picture.jpg

2.Paste the address in your post, then highlight the whole thing.

3. with the address highlighted, go up to the toolbar and click the IMG button. This will put the proper tags around the address.

Now, rather than posting it, click the Preview button down below to make sure you can see it. If you can, then post the message.

easy, peazy, one-two-threesie.. :thumb:

On the one, you used the right tags(IMG), but didn't have the whole address of the picture there. On the other, you were using the URL tags instead of IMG tags. Confusing stuff.. I only know how to do it because I dabbled in html code way back before it got so popular.

Nice looking pipe there buddy. What is or are the material(s) on the shank? It looks like you have a two piece shank extension.

Beautiful piece!
Did you use the Tagua Nut (imitation Ivory) on the shank? If so how was it to carve?
I’ve thought of using some of that but wanted someone else to be the Ginny pig first.

FINE JOB!!

Some experiences with Tagua nut. If you sand it too hard, it will discolour (yellow).Be carefull with fine edges they are vulnerable to chipping. The nut has a large void in the centre so cutting it to maximize the amount usable is very tricky. Other than that its wonderfull stuff. Myself I'm wondering if anybody has used the large nuts and do you get more material out of each nut?

Thanks Nick,
The stem end of the shank is french boxwood, connected with a delrin tenon, mortised to accept the stem tenon, the darker part is actually briar, it's not a seperate piece. I etched it with a writing burr with a dremel, and sstained it to look like a seperate piece. That etching I've seen used by Rad Davis , and Tonni Neillson sucessfully. I don't have the abillity to do sandblasting, and had to get creative.
Kind Regards,
Dan

About the Tagua nut...It was on the bench, and I needed something to balance the pipe on. It was given to me buy a sculptor friend, haven't used any yet. Probably going to pair it up with my next bamboo.
Best,
