Wow. That's really impressive.

The only thing that jumps out at me is the horizontal lines in the chamber from the drilling - the side wall is visible and that part looks rough on such a well finished pipe.

The bowls of my pipes are all rough, because the break in is very very easy.
If the bowl is smooth is more beautiful, but the break in is longer (but not too much).

I've seen your pics on Tarek's site, and it seems you do all your drilling freehand. Mind sharing a few tips? I still don't have the nerve to try it myself.

you need an electric motor ( 0.35 hp ) at 720 rpm; in this way it will be a sacure work

How do you make sure the holes line up?

only experience you gain in many years.
Sometime it can happens to make mistakes, so I take the pipe and use it for burn up the fire and cook steaks!

Your pipes are beautiful. Your skills are impressive. Do you drill the draught hole holding the pipe in your hands? Do you drill the draught hole first? Do you manufacture your own chamber bit? The way the chamber bit is shaped, it seems there would be a very small margin for error. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question, Scot

sorry for the late answer Scot, and thank you for your words. Yes, I always handmade drill all. First I make the model of the pipe (in this way if I find some sandpits I can change model), then I drill. In this way I get less rusticated pipes. Yes, there will always a little margin of error, but with experience it will get always lower. Here are some pics of my tools. I make these tools by myself. I hope that I can explain well

Those bits are very interesting. Do you find these better than twist bits for the draft hole? And, if so, why?

I work better with these ones, because in my opinion, it's easier. But this is in my opinion.
I think that each pipe maker has his way to work and each way is the best when you prefere it.
It's difficult for me explain you this in english. I'd like to talk more and more, but I've got my limits!
If one of you, my friends, comes in Italy, I'll be honoured to open my workshop.

Yes, I first hammering and then sharpening.
I use harmonic steel.
