Trent Rudat Chuck for Sale - SOLD
Good day, You are viewing a metal lathe chuck that I had adapted specifically for tobacco pipe making. The chuck that I had adapted is the very same chuck in the link below: http://www.busybeetools.com/products/chuck-4-jaw-5in-for-b2227l-and-b2229.html It was created by Trent Rudat of Indiana. The a...

As a Canadian, I'm sad to report, that these type of backyard, do-it yourself scenarios, are more common than you'd think. Lol.

Re: long stem pipes
Amazing! Thanks for sharing. Maybe, somewhere down the road, you'd like to offer some insight into how you interpreted design and techniques suggested in the forum, and applied them to these wonderful pieces. Cheers.

Re: Crab Apple
You're really soaking all this in quickly! Way to go. I don't feel I can comment on your piece because I'm about as new to this as you, but I will say that after the first hand cut stem that you complete, they get a lot easier. You'll get a good feel for technique and the material after a couple. Th...

Re: Creating Stem Shoulder
I may have phrased my question wrong. It's not that I am trying to get the stem shoulder to 'fit' into the countersunk area on the end of the shank, my question is "how do I create the stem shoulder in the first place?" I've seen stems without a shoulder and some with. It's always been rec...

Creating Stem Shoulder
Hand cut stems are getting a lot easier but I am still having problems trying to form a 'shoulder' to fit in the countersunk area of the shank. I thought that I could get away with creating that shape on my cutting tool but I like the radius that I have now. Any tips?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

First Lovat
Good day, Here is my first Lovat ( that I care to display ). It's also my first foray into sandblasting, which I think I'm going to enjoy. I was, again, overzealous with a file around the back of the bowl so I had to shape accordingly to achieve something close to symmetrical. I tried to turn the sh...

Re: Oneway Chuck w/ #2 Tower Jaws for sale
Hi Mark, Is this still available? And what size adapter is that in the picture? Scottie Hi Scottie, Yup, still available. The adaptor was purchased so it would fit my older wood lathe spindle ( http://www.kmstools.com/general-general-international-1-2hp-maxi-lathe-2186 ) which, as the specs show, w...

Re: Sanding Rig
I forgot to crop those beer bottles out. Gull! The decision to break the lathe down was an easy one. I have a Taig and a 10x20 metal lathe. All my turning options for stummels are covered as I've fashioned a too rest for the metal lathe bed. The wood lathe was eating space and it was, after all, onl...

Re: need some help with this nail tool!!
Take 5 dry wall screws and grind off the heads. Drill a hole in an oak dowel that will accommodate(snugly) the 5 screws, pointy end out. Drill the hole so that about 1/2 inch of screw stick out the dowel. Put the screws in the hole in the dowel(pointy end out). Fill the hole with epoxy. Cut the dow...

Sanding Rig
After a long time with rasps and files and holding my breath in a shed while sanding with a belt sander, I finally decided create a sanding rig. After purchasing a metal lathe I broke my wood lathe down and used it for parts. The headstock and motor to create this sanding setup. It is all mounted on...

Author Pipe
This is my first attempt at an Author shape. The block that I had started with dictated a shorter shank length than I had hoped for, but I nevertheless continued with this shape. I was a little overzealous with my file when shaping the shank which created a slight dip on the underside. Besides some ...
