Bowl coating olive wood...
I searched and found no answer...
I just recently made my first two olive wood pipes and am curious as to what the prevailing opinion is regarding bowl coating.

Re: Mortise bit
Just a thought... use an undersized end mill bit, then turn [down] the delrin tenon to fit the mortise after glue up.

Re: Question for the Mortaheads in here...
I have smoked more than 50 bowls in this pipe now, and absolutely no problems. In fact, it's the 'English' pipe I reach for the most. On an unrelated pipe, I sold a morta billiard a short time back, and the customer burned it out on the first bowl. I've talked to both Nate and Steve Norse, they gave...

Re: How to stamp your name/logo
When in the process is the most appropriate and effective time to stamp?
I assume sometime after sanding and before final buffing. I recently received my stamp, and I am about to complete a couple of pipes. I would like to proceed with knowledge, not the trial and error method.
Thank you.
Rob

Re: Steve Jobs on PipeMakersForum
Ambiguous commentary is a means of protecting oneself from the backlash of the truth. You know what is working and what isn't. Your reluctance to acknowledge it amongst your peers is tedious and cowardly. It is a matter of ego, whether the giver or receiver, the truth does not hide, but we become th...

A new batch of pipes...
I started this batch of pipes mid December and completed them Monday, January 19, 2015. These were a lot of fun. I do have alternative photos of many of these. I was pressed for time so I didn't get all the required shots for a proper crit (no buttons or mortise/tenon shots). https://scontent-b-ord....

That is a nice way to honor the memory of your friend. (maybe an annual anniversary pipe.)

Re: Something...
Thanks, guys. I really appreciate the kind words. Couple questions: Do you think the smooth band at the end of the shank is a touch too wide? Also, I'm thinking I removed a touch too much briar off the back (shank side) of the bowl near the shank...what do you think? Thanks. No on both accounts. I ...

Re: Something...
I don't know what shape to call that, I like it nonetheless. Sometimes veering of the path and discovering the unintended is better than the projection anyway. The smooth bowl and the blasted shank work well together, providing tension. Would it be considered "Danish"? or is the shank to s...
